Our Clinical Services Plan 2022–2037 [PDF 2529.95 KB] explains how we’ll deliver safe, high quality care across our region.

We created this plan with our community, health professionals and other key groups.

It describes health services in North West Queensland and looks at health needs and gaps in care. It also sets out how we’ll design and manage health care in the future, and lists priorities for improving services and facilities.

These priorities include:

  • making health care culturally safe and working with First Nations communities
  • expanding Mount Isa Hospital as the main hub with more specialist services
  • upgrading hospitals and using telehealth so people can get care closer to home
  • growing the health workforce, especially First Nations staff
  • improving maternity care, mental health, oral health, heart disease, and sexual health services
  • building modern facilities ready for new ways of providing care.

It’s based on facts, research and other plans like our Local Area Needs Assessment.
