Rural and remote benefits
Working in North West Queensland can come with extra benefits because of our rural and remote location.
Depending on your role, you may be eligible for incentives and allowances like:
- extra payments for working in remote areas
- professional development support, including leave and financial allowances
- help with travel and accommodation costs
- isolation bonuses or attraction incentives.
Salary and benefits
We offer competitive salaries and a range of other benefits, including:
- generous superannuation
- additional salary allowances
- flexible working arrangements
- flexible leave options
- salary packaging.
Your salary will depend on the type of role you do, your level of experience and where you work. Find the salary rate for your role on the Queensland Health Careers website.
You may also get allowances for things like shift work or for higher education qualifications.
Superannuation
We contribute up to 12.75% of your salary into superannuation.
The superannuation fund used by Queensland Government departments is QSuper, part of Australian Retirement Trust, but you can use a different one.
If you don’t choose another fund, we'll pay your superannuation contributions to QSuper.
Salary packaging
Salary packaging or sacrificing is a way of paying for things from your salary before you're taxed. This reduces how much income tax you pay.
You can salary sacrifice things like:
- rent or mortgage repayments
- insurances
- car expenses
- travel expenses.
Read more about salary packaging on the Queensland Health Careers website.
