The North West Hospital and Health Service provides excellent opportunities to explore the outback lifestyle, gain experience in remote area nursing/midwifery and learn about the health needs in isolated communities.

Professionally, nurses and midwives are provided extraordinary opportunities to develop their career, learn rapidly and explore different specialities. There are primary, secondary and community health services in addition to specialist services such as Midwifery Group Practice, Intensive Care, Emergency, Paediatrics, Cancer Care, Renal Dialysis and Perioperative Services.

Personally, the lifestyle in the North West is just as diverse. There is remote island nursing, coastal nursing and outback nursing. The communities are very active in camping, four-wheel driving, fishing, canoeing and there are many local events to be involved in.

Rich and “hands on” experience in our region is well regarded as it represents a well-supported clinical experience which is enjoyed by the many who have passed through our facilities. So, if you want a variety of real lifestyle and clinical experiences, work in diverse teams and locations, and receive quality support while remote practitioners impart their rural wisdom then consider North West as a place to work and live. Many have come to visit the North West; fallen in love with the outback experience and stayed much longer than they thought because of the opportunities to make a positive difference.
