The NWHHS Oral Health Service provides a statewide schedule of dental services to eligible patients living in Mount Isa and the surrounding district. The service is aimed at stabilisation and prevention of oral disease and maintenance of function in the district.

Where does our Dental Team service
  • Our Team have fixed Dental clinics in Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Normanton, Doomadgee and Mornington Island. We also have our Dental Truck that services Julia Creek, Burketown, Karumba and the Schools around the district
Toothache Clinics
  • We run a sit and wait toothache clinic at the Mt Isa Base Hospital from 8am Monday to Friday. If you or your child meet the eligibility criteria to be seen in this clinic you will then be triaged.
  • If you are living in the surrounding communities please give our team a call to find out when we will next be in your community.
Check-ups & Denture Appointments
  • If you’re are eligible for this services please give our team a call to be put on the general waitlist. You will be contacted by a phone call and a letter sent to your listed address when you reach the top of the waitlist.
Who is eligible for this service?
  • To be eligible for bulk-billed public dental care
    • Children
      • 4 years old to end Grade 10 - Medicare Card
      • Under 4 years & over 16 - Concession Card or CDBS eligible
    • Adults
      • Pension Care Card (Centrelink PCC or Dept Veteran’s Affairs)
      • Health Care Card (HCC)
        • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC)
        • Queensland Seniors Card (QSC)
Private Dental Care

If you don’t hold a current concession card you can access this service as a private fee paying patient - Outreach communities only.

  • These clinics can be accessed in Normanton Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Burketown and Karumba – fees apply and must be paid at your appointment via credit/debit card
  • If living in Mt Isa please contact the private Dental clinics in town for an appointment.

  • List of medications including vitamins
  • Current concession card and Medicare card
School Dental Service
  • We currently have 2 fixed School Dental clinics in Mt Isa at Townview and Sunset School and a travelling Dental truck servicing the schools.
