Sinfree Chirunga
Chief Finance Officer
Sinfree Chirunga was appointed Chief Finance Officer of North West Hospital and Health Service in June 2025. She is an accomplished finance executive with over 20 years of experience across the public health, government, and private sectors, both in Australia and internationally.
Sinfree’s career includes senior leadership roles in major Victorian health services, such as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Peninsula Health and Senior Business Manager at Monash Health. She has led high-performing teams, driven strategic financial planning, and implemented business improvements that have strengthened both financial performance and service delivery. Her experience also includes specialist secondments to the Department of Health & Human Services Victoria and Bass Coast Regional Health, where she advised on governance, financial reform, and performance improvement.
Earlier in her career, Sinfree worked in the United Kingdom in finance and audit roles, including as Group Tax Accountant for Volkswagen Group UK and as Internal Auditor and Accountant for Movianto UK & Ireland. She brings a global perspective and strong technical expertise across budgeting, financial stewardship, and corporate governance.
Sinfree also brings voluntary board experience, having served for five years as Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, and Board Member with Women’s Health in the South East. This role deepened her commitment to community-focused governance and strengthened her perspective on risk, compliance, and strategic oversight in the health sector.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa. Sinfree is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and holds a Diploma of Project Management. She is passionate about building sustainable financial strategies and enabling high-quality, equitable healthcare through strong financial leadership.
