Reminder to book an appointment with the visiting BreastScreen service

20th May 2025

BreastScreen Queensland’s mobile screening van will be visiting the North West for three months, starting in Karumba on 21 May.

BreastScreen Queensland is encouraging all women aged 50 to 74 to take advantage of the van’s visit to the North West and make an appointment for a screening.

The van will be in:

  • Karumba from 21 – 23 May at Karumba Primary Health Care Clinic
  • Mornington Island from 28 – 29 May at Mornington Island Health Centre
  • Cloncurry from 29 May – 4 June at Cloncurry Community Health Centre
  • Normanton from 5 – 10 June at Normanton Community Health Centre
  • Burketown from 12 – 13 June at Burketown Primary Health Care Clinic
  • Doomadgee from 17 – 18 June at Doomadgee Community Health Centre
  • Mount Isa from 5 June – 14 August at Mount Isa Hospital
  • Julia Creek from 18 – 21 August at Julia Creek Multi Purpose Health Service

A breast screen is one of the best ways to detect breast cancer early. On average, one in eight Queensland women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and, of those, 90 per cent will have no family history of the illness.

Women in their 40’s and 75 years and older are also eligible to book an appointment. A doctor’s referral is not required to attend the mobile screening service.

Call BreastScreen Queensland on 13 20 50 to make an appointment today or visit https://www.breastscreen.qld.gov.au/make-an-appointment.

If you notice any changes in your breasts before your appointment, please consult with your doctor as soon as possible.
