The drive-through testing clinic on Doreen Street was busy into Saturday night and was operational from 8.00am on Sunday morning.

North West HHS Chief Executive Craig Carey, said the patience, respect and cooperation from the community has been exceptional.

“Since the announcement yesterday, we have seen a great turn out from the community coming forward to get tested, with over 250 tests done so far. Everyone has been cooperative and patient and North West staff members have worked tirelessly under challenging conditions with high temperatures across the weekend,” he said.

“It is essential that anyone who has been at a listed exposure site or has any symptoms, no matter how mild, to come forward and get tested. Being proactive is an important part of keeping you and our community safe.”

Mr Carey encourages everyone to keep up to date with the latest Contact Tracing Exposure Sites, advice and information on how to protect yourself and others at Queensland Health’s dedicated COVID-19 site Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au)

Contact tracing was able to be done quickly and effectively thanks to the due diligence of the COVID-19 positive patient who checked-in everywhere they went. This is a timely reminder to continue to check-in at all locations for your own safety and wellbeing.

The drive-through pop-up clinic on Doreen Street is again open on Sunday for anyone requiring a test. Please remain in your car and follow the directions of staff members who are there to help you.

The Mount Isa Vaccination Clinic at the Mount Isa Hospital is also open on Sunday 19 December until 4pm.  Come forward and get vaccinated this week if you haven’t already with North West HHS’s vaccination clinics closing over the Christmas and New Year period from Friday 24 December until Tuesday 4 January 2021.
