North West Hospital and Health Service staff embrace the Christmas spirit

15th December 2022

The North West Hospital and Health Service (HHS) annual Christmas Decoration Competition saw 20 entrants from across the region participate in this year’s event.

Now in its ninth year, staff participate in the tradition and decorate their departments to reflect the festive season, bringing joy to co-workers and patients.

North West HHS Acting Chief Executive Sean Birgan said it was great to see staff embracing the festive season.

“While no one wants to be in hospital during the holidays, we appreciate the effort staff have gone to across our facilities to brighten up the hallways and departments for our patients and visitors who may be with us over the Christmas period,” he said.

The Mount Isa Hospital Auxiliary generously donated chocolates for participants, hampers for major category winners and a catered luncheon for the grand champion.

Mount Isa Hospital Auxiliary President, Sandra McGrady said the Auxiliary were proud to support the Christmas decoration competition.

The 2022 winners were Doomadgee Hospital (Best Recycled Display), Pathology Lab (Best Use of Traditional Décor), Public Relations (Best Representation of Health Equity), Healthcare Standards Unit and Children’s Ward (Best Christmas Movie Theme) and ATODS as overall Grand Champion for 2022.

North West HHS sincerely thank staff for the effort put into this year’s competition and wish the community a safe and happy Christmas break.
